Colaborare Școală - Biblioteca Publică din orașul Chișinău la sfârșitul sec. XIX

Abstract

Istoria Chișinăului este plină de fapte necunoscute sau slab elucidate în istoriografia Republicii Moldova. Unul dintre subiectele, care sunt cercetate și analizate pe o scară mică de către specialiști, se referă la istoria apariției și consolidării bibliotecilor publice pentru adulți și copii, la sfârșitul sec.al XIX-lea - începutul sec. al XX-lea. În articol sunt prezentate mai multe aspecte privind evoluția Bibliotecii Publice din Chișinău în ultimele decenii ale sec. al XIX-lea, dezvăluind identitatea reprezentanților societății basarabene care fie au contribuit la dezvoltarea bibliotecilor, donații de colecții de cărți. Cercetarea reflectă activitatea tutorilor și bibliotecarilor, care au completat în mod sistematic colecțiile de carte, au promovat și au susținut dezvoltarea bibliotecilor publice în regiunea dintre Prut și Nistru. Este vorba îndeosebi despre profesorii și absolvenții Liceului de fete nr.1 al Zemstvei din Basarabia, care în calitate de tutori ai bibliotecilor au sprijinit financiar biblioteca, încurajând promovarea literaturii și lecturii.

The story regarding the evolution of Chisinau still remains to be untapped, being full of unknown or poorly elucidated facts in the historiography of the Republic of Moldova. At the moment, one of the subjects, which are researched and analysed on a small scale by specialists, concerns the history of the emergence and consolidation of public libraries for both adults and children, at the end of the 19th century – beginning of the 20th century. In the present article, the goal was to present several aspects regarding the evolution of the Public Library from Chișinău during the last decades of the 19th century, revealing the identity of well-known and lesser-known representatives of the Bessarabian society, who have either contributed to libraries’ foundation or opened reading rooms, donating book collections and making widely sought literature available to the public. The research includes the names of tutors and librarians, who have systematically supplemented the book collections, supported the tendencies of preserving, promoting and developing public libraries in the region between Prut and Nistru. At the same time, I tried to revitalize the historical memory regarding school teachers and graduates of the Nr.1 Lyceum for Girls of the Bessarabian Zemstvo who, as library tutors and librarians, supported financially the library and encouraged the promotion of literature, reading and libraries from Bessarabia at the turn of the century.
