dc.description.abstract | Project management activity of the National Library Moldova: Case study of the project ‘Early 19th-Century Bessarabian Charters and Historical Documents’, supported by US Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (2017-2019)
Since 2002 the National Library of the Republic of Moldova has been a beneficiary of additional financial support from the national and international donors. This presentation consists of a case study of the project ‘Early 19th-Century Bessarabian Charters and Historical documents’, supported by US Embassy Moldova, Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation, which restored a collection of Bessarabian Acts (200 documents, around 400 pages, size A3). The projects give the possibility to change the usual approaches of traditional institutional management. New directions of activities arise after the project implementation.
The main results of the project:
● ‘Bessarabian Charters’ restored
● 25+ specialist librarians of Moldova trained in the field of preservation during 2 workshops with the specialists of the Library of Congress of USA and 1 round table with the specialists of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova (3 events, 75 participants, 4 international trainers)
● Obtaining complex information on the conservation of documentary heritage
● Supporting the cultural heritage and especially the mobile heritage of the National Library of Republic of Moldova
● Gaining the necessary experience in the field of organizing special exhibition spaces and exhibiting valuable documents
● Equipping the Section of old and rare books with conditioners (3), humidifiers (3), hydrometers (2) and vacuum cleaner (1)
● Equipping the old and rare book Section of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova with exhibition furniture (26 pieces)
● Equipping the Technical Center for Document Conservation and Restoration of the National Library of the Republic of Moldova with a disinfection chamber (1), cutter (1) and vacuum cleaner (1).
The presenter also discuss about the alongside results of the project and comes with the recommendations for further library development. | en_US |
